PAL to NTSC Multisystem Video Converters

Image : http://www.flickr.com

PAL

PAL technology is a color coding system in television systems in large parts of the world in action. Other common standards, including NTSC and SECAM. PAL is an analog transmission and is a standard used alternately in all 625 lines. It is based on the frequency of 50 Hz line cycle used and administered in countries where it is often standard equipment in the stream.
PAL was introduced as a standard in 1967 and hasEight different - PAL B, PAL G, H PAL, PAL D, PAL I, PAL-K, PAL-K, PAL-N, PAL M. These branches of PAL have different specifications. PAL is used in China, India, Indonesia, Israel, Laos, Nepal, Pakistan, Thailand, Lebanon, Iraq, Iran and Britain, some European countries, some countries in South America and Africa.

Within Europe, France, along with some of its neighbors, SECAM-use technology, where, how, the rest of Europe uses the PAL standard. It is the dominantStandard in the world with the United States and Japan using the NTSC standard. 625 lines of PAL at 50 frames per second and a half working at 50Hz cycle.

NTSC

NTSC is the technology that sets the standard for television and video standard in the United States and offers a composite video signal with a refresh rate of 60 fields per second, interlaced. A framework consists of a data packet and in this case it would be a set of composite video signals, aFramework are contained. NTSC contains 525 lines and can contain 16 million colors. A mean composite video signal that includes all colors, like red, blue and green signals. It may also consist of audio signals for time. These are mixed to form the composite video signal.

NTSC is designed essentially a similar system in the United States and in use in Canada, Japan, South Korea, the Philippines, the United States and some other countries, especially in the North and South America. The refresh rate of 60Hz NTSC standard, and consists of 525 lines per image. Of these 525 lines, 485 carry the video information, the rest are sync pulses, which are not visible. The bank lines have been deliberately put there to allow time for electronic weapons in a television interview given to those who repositioned.

SECAM

SECAM is an analog color television for the first time in France, as a video standard, in the first half of 1960. It is historicallyEuropean first standard color television. SECAM uses the same bandwidth as PAL but transmits the color sequence. Operates at 625 lines per frame and uses the same frame rate as PAL, 25 frames per second. SECAM in France and former French colonies used. Also used in the former communist countries of Europe. Because of the same features that SECAM has with PAL, especially as regards the resolution and frame rate is concerned, using DVDs, VCDs and PAL SuperVHS internally, but before theSignal at the output is available, the color encoding to SECAM changed is displayed on a SECAM TV.

Because of incompatible video standards can not video tape of a region is seen on television of another country, a different standard. This means that a video tape are not considered in the United Kingdom to the United States. This video has no form of a videotape to convert PAL to NTSC for viewing. Multi-Video System can play, videotapes of allRules, but you can not become the default video standard compatible with the current television standard. Solution to this problem is a video recorder with the possibility of converting the output signal to a level compatible for viewing on a TV you have. This multi-system VCR should have an integrated converter for this purpose.

A basic system of multi video is not based on this processor and a separate converter needed to be used, between video and television, or you are a multi-system TV to view the tape. A multi-system TV also has built a converter, and all the VHS tape you can play the VCR to show in each of several base. To see, suppose you have a PAL video tape on a NTSC TV. You will not be able to see the movie, while your VCR is a multi-in and has an integrated converter. The PAL is read by tape recorder and NTSC video signals are converted when using the output of the VCRto the TV. If your multi-system VCR does not have a converter, you must have a multi-system TV set so you can see the tape. The other alternative would be to connect an external converter between your multi-video and NTSC TV when you can see the videotape.

When converting PAL to NTSC, the point is to remember that the standard NTSC video with a resolution of 720x480 and a speed of 30 frames per second, while PAL has a resolution of 720x576 with aFrame rate of 25 frames per second. Therefore, from the above specifications, which can be easily found that PAL has a better picture quality than NTSC, while NTSC has a better display of moving images due to the higher refresh rate.

TenLab TenLab offers converters, which is the conversion of one of video standards in the ability of others. These are independent of video-transmission standard converter that supports PAL, SECAM and NTSC. The converter equipment connects to the video output toconverter output goes to the TV signal input. So if you play a PAL video tape / disc on your multi-VCR / DVD, the converter output is a standard that is compatible with NTSC standard TV.

Some of the models TenLab stabilization of vision, with Bult-corrector in time and have a video enhancer to give a clear image quality and crisp. TenLab converters are also used by the number of companies. TheConverters are for professional applications such as satellite transmissions worldwide, MTV Latin America and Gulfstream Aerospace for the Board of multiple system entertainment systems.

TenLab was founded in 1988 with the mission to release the products in the incompatibility between different standards existing video systems worldwide to create. The company introduced the first NTSC video converter, works on standard video cassettes. SinceTenLab has continued to introduce new models and offered to improve the old to the new rules.

Movie Maker for the Web

Image : http://www.flickr.com

What takes years to have a video and Internet stocks? With the video-hosting sites such as YouTube, anyone can do, Google Video, and share with people around the world, whether to do a home video or your project, as it is. With all the specifications and requirements for size and image quality of the film in the line can become complicated. It's good to have a plan on how to do it. In sections, the script is the backbone of their action. This script is very important.Take a few minutes to write the script.

It's much easier to change the script to edit, then film. And remember, keep it short and fun. Then select your media. You may already have a home video camera at home. Please sit down and think about it. There are three types of media: Mini DV, DVD and memory cards. I like them all. But I know friends who like to use the MC. I do not blame them. Easy to use. But more expensive. Chambers of media that these costs are based on it. Viewany of them almost every day. All cameras are high definition.

The question is: What is quality? Report of a consumer, a mini-DV is the best option. Although the image converted to tape, no compression. The video shown on a big screen without any change in quality. If you import to your computer, you can change the file size. Since the scanning is done in real time, so it lasts longer than DVD or MC. With DVD and burn the image anddigitally imported into the disc or card, then you're in the fastest team, but the quality and size is the default. To view the videos on the Internet it should be.

But quality is worse, if you plan to present a large-screen TV .. The biggest difference between Mini DV, MCs and DVDs is the inability to change the tapes. If run from space still available on DVD or mini DV that only the band. MCs with you first for the team and re-use the MC, or have a newHand. It could be expensive.

Puccini: Edgar [Blu-ray]

Puccini: Edgar [Blu-ray] Review

4.5 from 5

Before going any further, I would suggest you read the extensive and thorough review by G.P. Padillo for the DVD release of this performance. He has gone into great detail and provides an excellent outline of the opera and its history. I am writing this review, due to some differences in perception of the work and its performance.

It has been stated, in other sources, that Puccini lacked the ability to handle the drama of a story such as Edgar. In fact, the fault lies with the libretto by Ferdinando Fontana, as the story of Edgar bears weaknesses and some degree of illogicality in its structure. In the total perspective of the complete four act work that has now been returned to us, Puccini has provided an opera with a relatively good dramatic arc, and an opera that contains a good complement of attractive arias, an especially beautiful duet, and a large quota of excellent and appealing chorus work.

As other reviews have stated, the performance does not commence well. I would not say it takes the entire first act for everyone to get into their stride, but it takes a good 20 minutes at the least, and this includes the strings, which is a body that could be better coordinated in these early stages. But it all settles down into quite excellent performances from all soloists (I suspect it was recorded at one performance, rather than the usual two or three, allowing editing together the best sections). In this fairly lengthy work, it is well worthwhile putting up with the shaky start for all that follows.

The work starts slowly, sounding to me initially as if it could be more in the vein of "Rondine" , but Puccini manages his flawed libretto and progressively builds the dramatic intensity and flow of the opera, reaching a powerful and moving conclusion to what proves to be a quite dramatic work. After the shaky beginnings, all of the artists, as mentiond, perform well, with José Cura outstanding in his lead role as Edgar. Special mention should also go to the chorus. This work is laden with quite a lot of chorus singing, and the chorus members are very well up to the demands of the work -- something important for this opera if it is going to "come off".

Whilst I might look forward to a production with slightly higher standards in most departments, all aspects here are sufficiently good to give a competent presentation of a work that we have been denied for far too long.

On the technical side, both lighting, photography and editing seemed to speak more of a film background rather than recording stage productions, but while giving a different look, this aspect did not spoil the production in any way for me. There are a few Blu--ray releases that have a marginally sharper image, but this is still in the very good class. Sound, which is also of a high standard, is available in PCM stereo, as well as DTS--HD Master Audio 7.1. Image is 16:9.

So, as I said, while we may wish for a production at a slightly higher standard, after much reflection, I gave five stars as the production shows a well-unified concept, providing a worthwhile performance of an opera none of us has ever seen, yet should never have been lost. Despite the faults, when the performance came to an end, my immediate reaction was that I wanted to watch it all over again straight away. If you love Puccini, then buy this, forgive it its weaknesses, considering its entirety rather than picking at odd places. I think if viewed and listened to in this way, that is, as the complete work, rather than the sum of its parts, you will be very pleased to have it added to your collection.

Puccini: Edgar [Blu-ray] Overviews

Original rediscovered Puccini Opera! A fake death, a perverse woman and a pure woman, a man torn between them, a murder: the story of Edgar, Giacomo Puccini's second opera, is full of dramatic turns of events. Arthaus Musik presents this powerful and tragic opera now in a version which was count for lost for nearly 120 years. For the fi rst time the original version in four acts of Edgar by Giacomo Puccini was staged at the Teatro Regio in Turin in 2008. Thanks to the rediscovery of the manuscript score, after 119 years since the fi rst and only performance in Milan in 1889 and after numerous versions condensing the opera in three acts, it will be again possible to experience the original opera that Puccini wrote. It was only when the American Puccini expert Linda B. Fairtile began reconstructing the original orchestration of the almost 40-minute fi nal act that the composer's granddaughter, Simonetta Puccini, came up with the intact score. José Cura, acclaimed all over the world for his intense interpretations, is Edgar. His rich and brilliant tenor voice, together with his fascinating stage presence, make him one of the most charismatic and sought-after artists in the world. With him, two prima donnas, two artists of great charm and with skyrocketing careers: the Italian soprano Amarilli Nizza and the Russian mezzo-soprano Julia Gertseva.

Dirty Harry Collection (Dirty Harry / Magnum Force / The Enforcer / Sudden Impact / The Dead Pool) [Blu-ray]

Dirty Harry Collection (Dirty Harry / Magnum Force / The Enforcer / Sudden Impact / The Dead Pool) [Blu-ray] Review

5.0 from 5

A couple of years ago WB Home Video put out the Ultimate Dirty Harry Collection and this appears to be a paired down version of that. Lacking a few of the extras -- the book, Biography special on Eastwood, Callahan's badge -- it is cheaper. If you don't already have these films, this is a pretty inexpensive way to do so. You do get the commentaries, special on the film Dirty Harry as well as the retrospective The Long Shadow of Dirty Harry -- "I like tough on criminals. I hunt them with a big gun so when I shoot them they fall down." John Milius' take on the character of Harry Callahan. The films: DIRTY HARRY ( classic )and four pretty entertaining sequels. A good edition to any library. Only Big Clint can fire that cannon with one hand, let alone the .44 Auto Mag. The pistol was the product of early 1970's technology. Built to withstand internal pressures greater than those generated by a bolt action rifle. It fired a custom round which was a .44 bullet shoved into a cut-down .308 Winchester cartridge to give extra gunpowder, making it a really hot load. Watch closely in Sudden Impact and when Clint is target shooting you will see flames coming out of the barrel and ejection port. In Magnum Force you get a group of killer cops and future stars: David Soul (Starsky & Hutch), Tim Matheson (Animal House) and Robert Urich (Vegas and Spencer for Hire). Look closely at the Dead Pool and a drugged out rock star, Jim Carrey. Go ahead, make your day.

Dirty Harry Collection (Dirty Harry / Magnum Force / The Enforcer / Sudden Impact / The Dead Pool) [Blu-ray] Overviews

DIRTY HARRY Streetwise San Francisco police detective Harry Callahan will nail the serial killer Scorpio... one way or the other... no matter what "the system" prescribes. Don Siegel directs one of the best police thrillers ever made. MAGNUM FORCE Sharpshooting rookie motorcycle cops have turned vigilante, eliminating crooks the courts can't touch – thereby venturing into Harry's cross-hairs. Written by future directors John Milius and Michael Cimino. THE ENFORCER When terrorists rob an arms warehouse and go on a bloody extortion spree, city leaders seek out Callahan, who's now teamed with a lady partner (Tyne Daly) with two jobs: tracking down the terrorists – and winning Harry's confidence. SUDDEN IMPACT On an out-of-town assignment, Harry tracks a traumatized rape victim (Sondra Locke) coldly gunning down her bygone attackers. Fueled by the line that became a national catchphrase: "Go ahead. Make my day." THE DEAD POOL Fame isn't Callahan's style. He'd rather not be lumped in with a rocker, a film critic and a talk-show host. They're slain celebrities named in a mysterious betting pool. And Harry just joined the list.

But no problem, but the Toshiba plasma TV offers a means by which there is no image distortion and / or screen, which is a uniform level of brightness in color. Therefore, a large number of customers interested in winning. Additional benefits of holding aPlasma TV is that there is always fear of images blurred in the case of a fast-moving scene.

If possible a big action movie I saw was likely to be interrupted blur in some scenes. The blurring of the image was caused by a high frequency of movement in the roll of film. The older technique of most televisions do not have the capacity to cope with such high-speed motion, and therefore there was confusion. However, technologyProgress in the television industry now have the television production companies were able to correct this error.

If you are curious about exactly how the plasma technology to know, read on. Basically, 0.1 mm distance between the two vessels of the display of UV produced by electrical means of a steam trap. So the red, green, blue, or RGB phosphors to get activated. Activation of the RGB phosphors make these specialThe colors are clearly brings to the screen, in turn, to a clarity and precision in the brightness and color to display high image quality on the screen. The Toshiba plasma TV also works similarly.

So if you plan to get rid of your old TV set to purchase new equipment and better. Then go to the Toshiba plasma TV is the best choice for you could.

Connect a receiver for your home theater

Image : http://www.flickr.com

What is a receiver?

A receiver is very large, how heavy it can connect the speakers and other elements to form (like a DVD player, TV, CD player, Xbox, PlayStation, iPod, etc.) Is the "brains" of the show, really . The idea of all components to a receiver is the concept of audio / video switching, which allows different video sources (eg TV, DVD, camcorder) on your TV
thus changing the audio source - all without touching anything, but the recipient.

Of course, the main purpose of audio / video is changing is the conduct of a receptor for external audio speakers as surround sound or stereo speakers.

Most receivers have a variety of inputs, and more specifically to the 8 speakers and a subwoofer (, 5,1, or five speakers and a subwoofer), multiple video inputs, even HDMI. You can connect the Xbox console, plasma and DVD player to your receiver and use a remote to switch between video sources(Games, TV, DVD-Video) and pumping surround sound speakers. Let's start with the inputs and outputs. If you do not understand something, through all the how-to, since most of them are explained in detail to read.

Remember that a receiver is the center of the theater of the whole house, so this example actually perform the basics of connecting your home theater complete.

So what the hell is all this "stuff" in the back of the receiver?

I'll just goabout everything you'd find in the back of the receiver. The one I'm off base in this guide is a Harman Kardon AVR-247 going through the top left of the device and start my way to the right, then put on the left, the next row and so on.

The first three inputs are for antennas. An FM antenna wire slides on making first and two speaker cables into the remaining slots for AM is plugged. Of course, you do not have the antenna connector, but if yousuch as AM / FM reception is on the speakers, you want to go ahead and do it. These are standard connections, so if you lose one of their antennae, to go buy a new for a few dollars.

You've probably heard of composite video. This is a very basic video connection that is used most (by a component television, DVD, VCR, in particular). The common and cheap. As such, the very low quality.
Use an RCA composite video cable (yellow) and two RCA audio cables (red and white, stereo). TheThe problem is that a composite video cable combines luminance and chrominance in the same cable, so the image quality. You lose a lot of sharpness and the color begins to deteriorate from the original source. Be useful if the additional entry or the device is connected only via composite video. Otherwise, use something else, like component video. Similar sounds, very different.

S-Video is the next in line after composite. It uses a different type of connector (five pinsin a circle) and gives a little better video quality. It is also a video-only cable, so it must be separated into the audio jack. In this case, it is likely that a few red and white RCA cables for audio inputs.

Next up: a ton of composite audio inputs. These tickets left and right channel RCA cables, red and white. They look like the yellow composite video cable, and can also yellow for video and audio, but we keep theColor scheme as it is;) composite audio is the bottom-of-the-barrel in the audio. It is perfect for most, but if you're looking for a high quality surround sound, you do not want composite. Game systems like the Wii or Xbox, and very basic DVD players are the perfect complement to the composite audio.

The same applies to VCRs, CD players, and all it has only a composite audio output. Also, if you do not have surround sound or receiver only two channels (2.1, stereo sound), thencan not use anything but composite audio. Note that there is an integrated audio input on each composite video input, so it is easy to agree with them. Plug in the wrong and no longer sound when you are in this particular video input.

Here is one of the least used features of a modern receiver: 6 (or 8) channels of direct entry. This is only used for two purposes: SACD or DVD-Audio. SACD Super Audio CD means. This is a proprietary audio formatdeveloped by Sony for special CD recorded in 5.1 surround sound. That means you need a CD or DVD / CD, SACD, a receiver with SACD support (as shown), and naturally supports Super Audio CD. DVD-Audio is the same idea, different brands, different media (the DVD's, not CD!).

DVD-Audio discs are special DVDs in 5.1 surround sound can be recorded and played for them only to support devices. These CDs go all the way up 7.1 surround sound, which meansYou have two front, two rear, two side speakers and a subwoofer to enjoy full 7.1 surround sound. Most recipients of aid to 7.1 now, but you will not find DVDs with that kind of capability for movies. Surround 5.1 is still the de facto standard, so you do not run and buy more speakers in the foreseeable future.

You can skip this next little item because it is exclusive to this brand of receiver (Harman Kardon). The bridge is a property relationship that developed to connect
oneiPod. You must buy a separate component that includes a docking station and special cables to connect to the iPod. It is fully integrated with the receiver, the display
Menus and titles in the receiver's front LCD screen. You can easily pump your tunes through your speakers, stereo or surround sound.

Of course, the music on your iPod sounds, stereo, so the best thing that can happen is to simulate a surround sound or stereo surround sound, the same music in thethe two front channels
is provided by the central and rear channels. Some recipients of this intelligent than others, but more on that later.

Here is our high-end audio inputs and outputs. Basically, have the same performance, you need fiber optic connections (with the quadratic form) and coaxial digital (like a cinch) cable.
Both are 100% digital, analog as it is composed. The only way we can really surround sound from any source is to use one of theseConnections (or SACD / DVD-Audio optional)

Almost all DVD players these days have digital output, either optical or coaxial (sometimes both). Many high definition cable satellite and cable will also come with these
Compounds, so that you can enjoy 5.1-channel surround sound high definition. The choice between the two there is really no different in audio quality, so feel free to use
what he wants (or what we are forced to).

I do not think I have an image for the next snap. This is aPower Supplies couples. One thing is turn on the receiver, the other for what you want. Thus, when turning
by the recipient, type (supply to the other device, either a DVD player, CD player, cable box, whatever). I do not necessarily recommend, unless specifically suits
Your needs. It is useful if you're running low sales, of course.

Another thing that is never used: D-bus RC-5 input / output. This is infrared remote controls for your home theaterSystem. Frankly, something none of us will use. Some of the real goals high could be addicted to something for them, but do not even have a device that uses this technology. Stay on the remote that came with your device or buy a quality universal remote. No need for this option. An alternative use for this might be a bit more common: if the front panel of your receiver is locked (as in a closet), you can get an infrared transmitter on the front endthem. This transmitter would connect to another device anywhere in your room that accepts signals from your remote control. The receiving device sends commands from the remote receiver (through the channel that is connected to the front in the regular infrared transmitter).

Pre-outs, is located directly under the remote control input / output. Pre-out is used when amplifiers can plan for your system (to increase the power and did) so that the volume and audio quality. Average
Users are notUse it for anything other than the subwoofer preamp output. Want to deliver a subwoofer cable from the subwoofer to the subwoofer pre-execution
frequencies on the right. This is the correct way to connect the subwoofer to your surround sound system. The other entries will not be used if you plan to add
an amplifier. This is very necessary for domestic use. You can add an amplifier if you try to fill a space the size of a small house with enough sound, but do not knowRight?

Here we finally have the meat of the system: speaker inputs! Harman Kardon receivers use bind posts for connecting speakers, as shown in the picture. They
Working on the series, since counter-clockwise, then you can sneak the speaker wire on the tops and pull it turning counterclockwise to loosen. This
They give a beautiful setting of your speaker wire tractors, which is not likely to loosen over time. Other brands may use other types of connections, butbind posts are very common.
They might have been able to say it's a 7.1 channel receiver, as the speaker jacks.

You have space for 2 left and right front speakers, 2 rear speakers left and right
a center channel and two on the left and right "surround" channels which are placed on the market somewhere between the front and rear (side surround, or 7.1). If you have enough
Speakers, you can go out and plug in Part 2 are extra, but you can not play any soundall in one DVD 5.1. You need a DVD that supports 7.1
Surround Sound, and at that time, there is simply no market for them. CD stereo surround sound through the explosion with pleasure the 7 speakers, though, so for some larger rooms for use
Advantage.

Our last set of connectors for this receiver: component video. The best video you can change the composite video or S-video. They are (in a series of three cables for video communication),
normally red, green and blue. I do not thinkwhat the cable is not whether - that separates the video signal luminance and two separate color channels. In the last component
was not in fact represent R, G, B (division of the primary colors in transmit and recombining them in the target device), but not in the current component-video
Connections. Component video can carry high definition signals all the way up to 1080p, then it's more cost effective and readily available high definition input.
Not seen in thisReceiver are DVI and HDMI, both all-digital video connections.

HDMI is the newest and fastest, most powerful video and audio connection available immediately. Is the cable, which produces audio and video does not mention one - it's in HD.
HDMI is compatible with the source and the screen is connected to not use all its features. Not all DVD players, cable boxes, support or the recipient of two
Audio and video in HDMI. As more and more precisely to a standardsupport to them. The advantage is clear: less clutter, higher quality audio and video. Can
to 1080p high-definition video and 7.1 surround sound through an HDMI cable. Newer cable and satellite boxes, DVD players HD DVD players, receivers and more expensive
supports the full capability of HDMI. It's the best you can get is how all digital.

The last link in this article is DVI. DVI is also all digital like HDMI, but can not process audio signals.HDMI can give a technically superior
but I think nobody can tell the difference. DVI supports high definition video up to 1080p, and HDMI. Its being used less frequently now,
But if you bought a new computer or video card to your PC recently, you probably have a DVI connector (or two) connector on it. Most computer monitors use DVI video cards and now
have followed suit. HDMI is the edge of his way in the PC market, but its dominance is seen in the home theaterArena.

Now that you've become familiar with common connections, let's connect it all together.

This part of the recipient How-To guide you through the connection of 5.1 surround sound system (5 speakers and a subwoofer) with a high definition TV, a guide to high definition cable or satellite TV, DVD player and 5 , 1 receiver.

Your TV & Components

Where will you put your TV, depending on how big it is, how big your room, and where you are. When its 50Customs, sitting no more than 10-15 feet, but not less.
A 60 is "perfect for 12-20 feet. If you have a set of 32 inches, try to sit no more than 8.12 meters. Your receiver, DVD player, cable and other components which, of course, very close together but are not physically present at the top of each. All hot, especially the receiver. If you have no choice but to push a piece of wood between the components, in order to dispense the heat.

Lay Out OfSpeakers

The first step is to configure your settings. Different rooms call for different locations for the speakers and subwoofer. If your site is a typical rectangle, go ahead and put the two front left and right somewhere flush with the TV on this side of the room. Your left speaker goes to the left corner, right speaker, right around the corner. Do not bother with speaker wire but (unless the speakers come with speaker wire already attached, in this case onlyNow, hanging). Note that the speaker is left or right just depends on how you connect to your receiver. The speakers are not really known as "left" or "right".

Depending on how you acquired your speakers, front speakers could be larger than the rear speakers. That's how you know they are on the front. Otherwise, all speakers of the same shape and size, and each can be used for any purpose.

One exception: the center channel. Normally, a school isChannel is much shorter and wider than the other speakers. It should be used only for the central channel. Sometimes, all 5 speakers might be the same, usually in a very low cost installation. You can use any of these speakers for a particular purpose.

Your center channel should always be directly above or below the TV. However, you have to do it, do it! It's not like the center channel at all, you know. Each film of the pump almost 90% of the vote, which ishearing and most other sounds through the central channel. It is a very important component to the surround settings.

The subwoofer should always be in the ground. If you can not put it on the floor, get on the floor as close as possible. Placement behind objections or in closets will diminish its effects. In an ideal configuration would be that the subwoofer on the floor near the TV (perhaps the left or right) in the line of sight. Nothing shouldBlocking of the subwoofer that goes off the air (usually by a grid to protect the subwoofer covers).

When it comes to finding a good place for the speakers, you should mount partitions. You can usually buy speaker terminals along the line or in stores. Also
existing shelving, buy some shelves, or on tables and other objects. No matter how you do it, you should keep the speakers about ear level close as possible. A spokesman for appeal andthe ceiling of the room is not to give the optimal listening experience.

The last, which is noted on the design of speaker cable. Maybe at least 100 feet of speaker cable, but you often, even more if
You try to wire through your ceiling, under the carpet, through the basement, or around objects to conceal it. The measurements and buy at least 10% over the wire --
Do you think you need. You are probably usingit!

Wiring

You need different types of speaker cable are available for you to know before creating your home theater. If you bought one (Home Theater HTIB) in a box, you probably came with 100 feet of horribly cheap speaker wire. You do not want that! Do yourself a favor: buy some high quality, 14-gauge speaker cable. All that size 14 is more than just interence thin and vulnerable to the loss of shoddy quality and long distances. Fourteen is a good indicatorThick and suitable for most home theaters. Be sure not to be too thick - a speaker cable, just will not fit in the headphone wire in some receivers.

Some receivers use proprietary speaker inputs. Sony is an example. Many Sony receivers have special connectors for speaker wire and will not accept a standard speaker cable. You must use the Sony-provided speaker wire, making the ends of speaker cables from Sony and placed in your account, or buy some of these specificSony connectors directly to the speaker cables. My recommendation? Avoid any receivers with the rule concerning the number of posts of speaker wire / plugs / caps. Search binding posts or other connector that slides in itself, and repress the typical speaker cables allow.

If you have decided that the speaker wire, you have to do some cutting and stripping, if you decide to buy your own. This sounds more difficult than it looks, so do not worry!

Measure the length of each one at a time ofSpeaker wire with either very large scissors or a sharp knife. Now you need to strip the ends of the wire. Use a removal tool or scissors good times. You can use the scissors on the cable in place and easily apply some pressure, while turning the scissors around the cable, carefully cut the plastic liner. Finally, be sufficiently weak that it can only glide pulling it with your fingers. You need at least 1 / 4 "of exposed wire.

Now you can make the connectionSpeakers. Note on speaker wire the difference between the two extremes. You need to use her as positive and one negative. Sometimes the coating in a color different between the two, or there is a text and not the other way. Keep these - depending on which side of the speakers positive, receptor positive use. Crossing the two can cause damage, either immediately or sometime in the future. It could be this way, but do not wantfor!

Connecting the speakers is fairly easy. Front left front left of your receiver, center speaker center of the receiver, etc. .. The rear speakers can be described as "envelope" or "backward" rather than "behind", but keep in mind when you have 7.1 or 8.1-channel receiver Surround can be shown on this page, surround speakers, no rear speakers.

Subwoofer

The subwoofer is certainly a little more complicated. There are different ways to do this andMany variations of inputs / outputs on the back of the subwoofer. I go with the more standard and efficient method for first.

You need a cable to connect the subwoofer sub. If you have an account, or unwilling to buy, you can of standard RCA cables to replace red and white (or a couple, as they are often connected, you can hang the cable otherwise). It works, but it's not really the best way to do this. You also need what is called the Y-adapter In the back of theYour sub should) is a left / right input (red and white. Connecting the Adapter to these compounds and then the subwoofer cable (or RCA cables) to the other end of the Y (Note: If you do not has a Y adapter, just choose the left or right input jack).

Now take the other end of the cable and connect it to your receiver
Subwoofer preamplifier output. I hope you have a low power, which is the AC outlet. All you need do now is connect theSubwoofer is good.

If you do not have RCA jacks on the subwoofer, or simply speaker cable connectors (and) probably not, because you must connect it to the old way. His front left and right ouput jacks plug into the subwoofer instead of your receiver. Then, run speaker wire from the left and right inputs on the subwoofer output on the left and right speakers to your receiver. Thus, the subwoofer is operated by the recipient and notLabor and low power. Also some power of the front speakers with this method. A good idea is to buy a new, online powered subwoofer with RCA connectors.

Connecting the Dots

They made things hard on the road. Quit now, adding to your TV, DVD and cable / satellite. Always try to get the best options first. If the DVD --
HDMI has also, and use your receiver. If you use your DVD S only through composite, S-Video and component video, componentVideo cable. When it comes to audio, it is absolutely necessary
be used for digital coaxial (jacks usually orange) or embedded optical fiber (usually the woman in the unit and has a door on it, and if the door is open, visible red light). If you are not one of them, you will not be true surround sound! If all else fails, resort to composite (red and white) audio connectors.

Note: close to the terminals of the receiver in his eyes. Everything is labeled as the first sentence ofRed, green component video inputs and blue, can be labeled "Comp 1". If you use the composite audio-cablesfor their sound, you need to connect to the outlets to coordinate with "Comp 1. It is not, perhaps because the beneficiaries clearly, so please consult the manual for your receiver to determine which Use video inputs, audio inputs. In most cases you will be able to configure from the internal menu of the receiver with the remote control.

For some receivers, all componentsVideo inputs, for example, are in a single composite audio input is connected (usually "DVD"), so if you have more than one component, will be competing for sound when more than one device is active. That's why to configure the component inputs to use different audio inputs.

My manual is the only way to know how. Composite video game normally until the composite audio inputs with naming conventions like Video 1 -> Video 1, Video 2 ->Video 2, etc, but as Component and DVI cable can not work. You should also configure digital audio inputs match the video inputs to be used. For example, if you're using a digital coaxial input (possibly "Digital 1"), and component video, you want to match "Digital 1" with "Comp 1". Also, see the user guide, how to do this.

Blu Ray VS HD DVD - Who Will Win The Format War ?

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Blu-ray and HD DVD (High Definition DVD) are two conflicting storage technologies for digital media like high definition movies, games and other audio visual material. There are a few other technologies emerging but it seems that these two rivals are the big players in the battle for home consumers hearts and minds. So what are they, which one is better and who is likely to win the latest technology format war.

Blu-ray was created by the Blu ray Disc Association, an association of major consumer electronics producers, like Sony and Panasonic, as a high capacity storage device to replace the standard DVD format. HD DVD was developed by the DVD forum, an alternative association of high tech electronics producers, including Toshiba and NEC, as their replacement of standard DVD.

Both work on the same principle. They use a blue laser with a shorter wavelength than the standard red laser of Dvd's and CD's (405 nm compared to 650 nm). This allows for more storage space on a disc. More storage is vital as high definition video becomes an industry standard in movies, TV and video games.

Latest information on the storage capacities of each format sees blu-ray out in front. A single layer blu-ray disc can store 25 GB compared to HD DVD of 15GB. A dual layer blu-ray can store 50 GB while the HD DVD stores 30 GB. This would suggest that blu-ray can store more detail and thus provide better extra features to movies etc. Although this is not completely true as video compression influences the amount of information stored on a disc, the capacity is a significant difference between the two formats.

Initial blu-ray discs stored data close to the surface of the disk. This meant that if the disc was scratched in any way it would probably malfunction or jam when playing. Apparently a protective layer has now been introduced to newer blu-ray disc that protects the data much more. HD DVD have always stored the data deeper in the disc and are resistant to most minor scratching and wear and tear.

Although the underlying technology is important in a format war, it is more often the case of the people supporting each format that has more influence on the outcome.

Again, it seems like blu-ray has the advantage.

Blu-ray is supported by consumer electronics companies Sony, Panasonic, Philips, Sharp and Pioneer and a number of others. This suggests that they will produce products that are exclusively devoted to using the blu-ray technology. The most recent instance of this is the Sony Playstation 3 that features a blu-ray disc player.

In terms of computer technology companies, blu-ray is supported by Apple, Dell, Sun Microsystems and Hewlett Packard. Their disk drives will use blu-ray.

Possibly more significant for people interested in home entertainment are the major movie companies supporting blu-ray. These are 20th Century Fox, Walt Disney and Warner Bros. Although Walt Disney and Warner Bros. are not supporting them exclusively and will produce movies in HD DVD format. At this point only Universal Pictures has an exclusive deal to produce HD DVD pictures.

On the HD DVD side possibly the biggest player is Microsoft. They have HD DVD readers in the X box games console and seem determined to throw their weight behind HD DVD.

Of the major consumer electronics companies, the most significant supporters of HD DVD are Toshiba, NEC and Kenwood.

In terms of computer component manufacturers, Intel is behind HD DVD.

Although it is still unclear who is winning the format war, it would seem that blu ray has some big supporters. Although HD DVD have some big names too, notably Microsoft. Prices of individual players and recording devices might also impact the success of each format. At this point most products are quite expensive but this will change with time.

Enchanted [Blu-ray]

Enchanted [Blu-ray] Review

4.5 from 5

Oh my gosh! I am 44 years old and loved it! Loved it! Loved it! It is fun to watch and I can't believe how many times I laughed out loud and woke my daughter in the next room. I can't believe that I am just seeing this movie. I love all of Disney Cartoons and used to buy them all in Europe for my children at a young age but this one makes me want to just cry because of so much joy it has throughout the entire movie. If you are having a rainy day, put this on your DVD player. You will smile for hours. Trust me. The color was absolutely great. The sound was absolutely great! The actors including the scenes with the cartoon characters are awesome! WoW! Wow! and WOW!

Enchanted [Blu-ray] Overviews

Beautiful Princess Giselle is banished by an evil queen from her magical, musical animated land and finds herself in the gritty reality of the streets of modern day Manhattan. Shocked by this strange new environment that doesn t operate on a happily ever after basis, Giselle is now adrift in a chaotic world badly in need of enchantment. But when Giselle begins to fall in love with a charmingly flawed divorce lawyer who has come to her aid even though she is already promised to a perfect fairytale prince back home she has to wonder, can a storybook view of romance survive in the real world?

Enchanted [Blu-ray] Specifications

Life is idyllic in the fairytale world where conflict is minimal and breaking into song solves every problem, but what happens when a princess from the fairy world gets magically transported into the real world? Enchanted begins in the animated fairytale world of Andalasia where Princess Giselle (Amy Adams) is destined to marry Prince Edward (James Marsden) and live happily ever after. Problem is, Edward's step-mother Queen Narissa (Susan Sarandon) doesn't want to give up the throne and will do anything to get Giselle out of Edward's life. Queen Narissa's solution is to push Giselle into a well that magically lands Giselle smack in the middle of the real world--the center of Time Square in New York City, to be exact. This launches the live-action portion of the film where Giselle immediately realizes that things are frighteningly different in this new world and that she is ill-prepared for the callous ways of the people who inhabit it. Giselle finds herself alone on a stormy night in the wrong end of town, but a chance encounter with Robert (Patrick Dempsey) and his princess-loving daughter Morgan (Rachel Covey) leads to a warm, safe place to spend the night and the beginnings of a complicated, yet compelling relationship. As Giselle begins to question the fairy-tale truths she's always inherently believed, Robert's outlook on life and love also begins to change significantly. Parallels to the classic Disney fairytales, Cinderella, Snow White and Sleeping Beauty abound in the form of a King's and Queen's ball, small animals and rodents who clean house when called, the threat of poisoned apples, characters impulsively breaking into song, and the power of the kiss of true love and the absurd juxtaposition of fairytale idealism and stark reality is hilariously funny. Features music by Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz of Pocahontas and The Hunchback of Notre Dame fame, Wicked's Broadway Elpheba Idina Menzel as Nancy, and even a brief appearance by former Princess voice talent Judy Kuhn (Pocahontas). Enchanted is one of the best, most entertaining Disney films of the year. (Ages 6 and older with parental guidance due to some scary images and mild innuendo) --Tami Horiuchi

On the DVD
The Blu-ray edition of Enchanted is packed with special features including the exclusive-to-Blu-ray "D-Files," which highlight the multitude of references to other classic Disney films with an interactive trivia game that's fun for all ages. Much more engaging than your typical pop-up facts, this feature punctuates the action in the film with interactive questions: Which classic Disney film inspired the soap bubble? The coach scenes? What Disney song inspired the "Happy Working Song?" Which Disney films feature evil stepmothers? Correct answers earn viewers bonus interview footage with director Kevin Lima, songwriter Alan Menken, lyricist Stephen Schwarz, stars Amy Adams and Patrick Dempsey, and a host of others as well as side by side comparisons of scenes from classic Disney movies and Enchanted. Other bonus features include a 17-minute exploration of the technical issues involved in the three biggest scenes in the movie; highlighting the challenges of combining multiple disciplines like CGI, live-action, casting animals and children, visual effects, and the choreography of a huge variety of dancers, skaters, and stilt-walkers in one film and, often, in a single scene. The animated, pop-up adventure "Pip's Predicament" illustrates Pip's behind-the-scenes role in leading the Prince out of Andalasia into New York and is sure to captivate young children. Two minutes of bloopers, six deleted scenes, and the Carrie Underwood music video "Ever After" round out the special features. --Tami Horiuchi

Friday the 13th, Part 2 [Blu-ray]

Friday the 13th, Part 2 [Blu-ray] Review

4.0 from 5

In 1979 four months later after the horrific killings in Camp Crystal Lake, it seems survivor Alice (Adrienne King) has moved on with life but gets murdered. Five years later has passed and now a new camp lead by Paul (John Fuery) and girlfriend Ginny (Amy Steel) have opened up the camp nearby Camp Crystal Lake. Rumors have it that Jason Voorhees (Warren Gillette) is still alive and wants revenge for his dead mother as more counselors are being killed one by bloody one.

A bloody sequel to a 1980 slasher box-office hit classic that is well paced and exciting all the way. This is the one that has Jason Voorhees as the killer rather then his mother as the studio decided to have Jason as the killer when the first movie was a box-office smash in the summer of 1980. Betsy Palmer from the original movie does an appearence as Jason's mother but in a memory and Jason here doesn't don his famous hockey mask until the next movie but here he wears an Elephant-Man burlap sack over his disfigured face, the body count is much higher then last time with some fine gore like icepick to the skull and machete to the face. This one offers good timely scares, violent kills and made Jason the icon of horror in the 80's next to Freddy Krueger.

This blu-ray offers decent quality picture and surround sound with nice extras such as a Inside Crystal Lake Memories featurette, Lost Tales of Camp Blood part 2 short film, Jason Forever featurette, Friday's Legacy: Convention featurette and Trailer.

Panasonic SD-YD250 Bread Maker - the perfect gift?

Image : http://www.flickr.com

If you get either you or a loved one interested in a bread machine this Christmas, then you definitely should check the Panasonic SD-YD250 bread maker. As the No. 1 best sellers in Amazon bread machine, is very popular and has been rated a top performer in many websites.

I bought this earlier this year to admit after reading the great reviews and comments, and I must say I am absolutely delighted with it. That was not my first bread machine(He had previously had two), but this was the best of the three, and after using 3-4 times a week for the last 6 months is still strong and the production of high quality bread.

Pros:

- It is very quiet, especially compared with the last two had. The only thing that "could" hear a slight buzz when mixing.

- The exceptional consistency of bread - the bread always comes to fairness, and provides excellent color and crust.

Clean - very easy to use: The wooden container and leaf are not - you can usually just rinse them off in warm water.

- The bread is as good as any found in a supermarket. You can not go wrong with fresh baked bread, bread directly from your computer.

- The price has dropped sharply this Christmas - you can actually get that up to 57% off the original price.

Cons:

- Not really a con - more of a true discovery. IWe recommend that you use the best quality, fresh ingredients (flour, yeast, etc.) and exactly the right amounts. When you leave do not, the bread is not merely good. The bread machine recipes are for use with bread machine developed into something different, because you are using for bread from the oven.

However, if you want a more perfect bread every time, you can not go wrong with the Panasonic SD-YD250 bread maker. My family and I enjoy freshly bakedPan several times a week, and for me this product is a pure winner. It uses a very easy to work, and produces consistent results, yes, I do not think there's been a bad bread. I can not for a better Christmas present for someone who loves to cook and think of happy home-made bread - too easy for a beginner wonderful baking with this device.

From Russia with Love (James Bond) [Blu-ray]

From Russia with Love (James Bond) [Blu-ray] Review

4.5 from 5

It isn't only silly gadgets, childish gimmickry and (more recently) CGI inanity that have deprived modern films of any semblance of realism, it is also what more recent films have done to the ancient, primordial art of hand-to-hand combat. If you examine Bond's fight in the train car, you will observe that the scene captures how people actually fight in real life. No high flying kicks, no silly poses, no Kung-fu ballet and gymnastics. No, this Bond fight wasn't any of those things. It was as real as I've seen on film. It's a shame that I had to go back nearly 50 years to see a "real" fight captured on film. And that fight scene has stayed with me and made an impression I won't soon forget mainly for its realism and superiority over what would follow in the decades to come.

I suppose much of the blame for the corruption of hand-to-hand combat scenes can be laid at the feet of Bruce Lee. And it pains me to say this, as I was an obsessive Bruce Lee fanatic growing up. But once Lee and his imitators started with the ballet, gymnastics and dancing, realistic looking fights were no longer choreographed in films. In the spy genre, I suppose the last Bourne film certainly went a long way toward capturing the rhythm and feel of real martial combat. But compared to FRWL, it too was stylized and too elegant to look real.

This is a great movie. Everything is well done. Even the effects remain effective and actually look better and more real than the CGI junk being done today.

From Russia with Love (James Bond) [Blu-ray] Specifications

Directed with consummate skill by Terence Young, the second James Bond spy thriller is considered by many fans to be the best of them all. Certainly Sean Connery was never better as the dashing Agent 007, whose latest mission takes him to Istanbul to retrieve a top-secret Russian decoding machine. His efforts are thwarted when he gets romantically distracted by a sexy Russian double agent (Daniela Bianchi), and is tracked by a lovely assassin (Lotte Lenya) with switchblade shoes, and by a crazed killer (Robert Shaw), who clashes with Bond during the film's dazzling climax aboard the Orient Express. From Russia with Love is classic James Bond, before the gadgets, pyrotechnics, and Roger Moore steered the movies away from the more realistic tone of the books by Ian Fleming. --Jeff Shannon

Living Landscapes HD Hawaii [Blu-ray]

Living Landscapes HD Hawaii [Blu-ray] Review

3.0 from 5

There are a lot of dvds produced these days to provide viewers a chance at virtual relaxation without leaving the confines of your own home.

Living Landscapes is a stellar entry into this genre, with each title giving an actual destination instead of just a theme, and the visual and musical productions a step above the competition. I don't just want beaches, I want Hawaii. Everytime I view this dvd, I can prepare for the day that I get to make my Hawaiian trip a reality.

Start with the sampler dvd from this series, called "Most Beautiful Places n the World" to get an idea of what is offered with this series. Each disc is its own unique experience. I will
keep coming back for more!

I Am Legend [Blu-ray]

I Am Legend [Blu-ray] Review

3.5 from 5

I read the "I am legend" book. It was a piece of garbage. If you were disappointed because they did not follow the book, most American literatures need to be re-written. If they followed the book, it would have been a box-office disaster. These people need to make money. I found the "I am legend" book to be boring and past its time. There is a funeral plot and grave at there waiting for this book.

I Am Legend [Blu-ray] Overviews

Robert Neville is a brilliant scientist, but even he could not contain the terrible virus that was unstoppable, incurable, and man-made. Somehow immune, Neville is now the last human survivor in what is left of New York City and maybe the world. For three years, Neville has faithfully sent out daily radio messages, desperate to find any other survivors who might be out there. But he is not alone. Mutant victims of the plague -- The Infected -- lurk in the shadows... watching Neville's every move... waiting for him to make a fatal mistake. Perhaps mankind's last, best hope, Neville is driven by only one remaining mission: to find a way to reverse the effects of the virus using his own immune blood. But he knows he is outnumbered... and quickly running out of time.

I Am Legend [Blu-ray] Specifications

Will Smith stars in the third adaptation of Richard Matheson’s classic science-fiction novel about a lone human survivor in a post-apocalyptic world dominated by vampires. This new version somewhat alters Matheson’s central hook, i.e., the startling idea that an ordinary man, Robert Neville, spends his days roaming a desolated city and his nights in a house sealed off from longtime neighbors who have become bloodsucking fiends. In the new film, Smith’s Neville is a military scientist charged with finding a cure for a virus that turns people into crazed, hairless, flesh-eating zombies. Failing to complete his work in time--and after enduring a personal tragedy--Neville finds himself alone in Manhattan, his natural immunity to the virus keeping him alive. With an expressive German shepherd his only companion, Neville is a hunter-gatherer in sunlight, hiding from the mutants at night in his Washington Square town house and methodically conducting experiments in his ceaseless quest to conquer the disease.

The film’s first half almost suggests that I Am Legend could be one of the finest movies of 2007. Director Francis Lawrence’s extraordinary, computer-generated images of a decaying New York City reveal weeds growing through the cracks of familiar streets that are also overrun by deer and prowled by lions. It’s impossible not to be fascinated by such a realistically altered cityscape, reverting to a natural environment, through which Smith moves with a weirdly enviable freedom, offset by his wariness over whatever is lurking in the dark of bank vaults and parking garages. Lawrence and screenwriters Mark Protosevich and Akiva Goldsman wisely build suspense by withholding images of the monsters until a peak scene of horror well into the story. It must be said, however, that the computer-enhanced creatures don’t look half as interesting as they might have had the filmmakers adhered more to Matheson’s vampire-nightmare vision. I Am Legend is ultimately noteworthy for Smith’s remarkable performance as a man so lonely he talks to mannequins in the shops he frequents. The film’s latter half goes too far in portraying Smith’s Neville as a pitiable man with a messianic mission, but this lapse into bathos does nothing to take away from the visual and dramatic accomplishments of its first hour. --Tom Keogh

Keeping Score-Shostakovich: Symphony No. 5 [Blu-ray] Review

5.0 from 5

MTT's lucid, lyrical analysis conspires with spectacular cinematography and sound to create one of the finest classical music videos ever made--an inspiring work that surpasses even the justly famous television studies contributed by such earlier titans as Leonard Bernstein and Glenn Gould. If you've been wondering how far your HDTV/surround system can take you, look no further.
